SIZING
What size should I buy?
We have put together a Size Guide to help find your correct fit.
If you are still unsure, do not hesitate to contact us and we will be happy to help you!
I have two items that are labelled the same size but fit differently. Why is this?
Our products are designed with specific sports and uses in mind, so they are all cut slightly differently. For instance, an offshore jacket has a loose cut to allow for layering up underneath. A base layer may have a slim cut to keep it close to your skin.
If you are uncertain about a particular products size, feel free to contact our customer service team.
In any event you can always exchange your item for a different size if you prefer a different fit.
What is the best fit for a base layer?
Base layers are designed for wicking moisture from your skin and are usually best when worn very close to the skin in a slim fit.
Our Size Guide will help you find the best fit.
What is the best fit for a mid layer?
A middle layer is designed to add warmth by trapping heat close to you. A middle layer should fit comfortably, allowing freedom of movement, but should not be too loose or it will not be able to trap warm air.
Our Size Guide will help you find the best fit.
What is the best fit for a outer layer?
An outer layer is a weatherproof layer that should fit with enough room to allow you to layer up underneath for warmth. Make sure it is comfortable and is long enough in the body/ sleeves/ legs to protect you from the elements.
Our Size Guide will help you find the best fit.
What should I consider when buying technical clothing?
There are a lot of things to consider when choosing your technical clothing. But to start with, think about what activities you will be using it for and what weather you will use it in. This will help you know what performance features you need most, e.g. warmth, light weight, camouflage, ocean waterproofing. Our What to Wearguides will help you choose the best clothes for your sport or activity.

WARRANTY
How long should my Musto gear last?
The expected lifetime of each product can vary due to several different factors, such as the level of usage and product care. If you use your items on a regular basis, and have given them routine care, the expected lifespan of our items would be as follows:
2 YEARS
- Tops, polos, shirts & base layers
- Shorts & trousers
- Accessories (hats, gloves, socks)
- Footwear
- Sweatshirts, jumpers & knitwea
4 YEARS
- Insulated jackets & midlayers
- Bags & luggage
6+ YEARS
- Waterproof & technical jackets/trousers
- Waterproof sailing boots
Technical fabrics and materials have changed over the years, and so too has the chemical make-up that ensures a garment is waterproof. It is vital that garments are used, washed, cleaned and stored correctly from day one or the life expectancy is likely to be reduced.
It all comes down to your usage and how you look after the product. Garments should be visually checked for cuts, scrapes, or damage regularly. If you spot any, get in touch with one of our partners to repair and fix it before it gets any worse.
If you notice your garment is not as waterproof as it once was, then check for damage if it’s localised (for example if your shoulder is getting wet check seams around this area) but also whether it is simply dirty. If it is not damaged, but there are signs of dirt, then a tech wash and re-proofing should return your garment back to new.
Look after your Musto products from day one and they will look after you when it matters most.
Do you offer warranty on your garments?
For decades, sports professionals have trusted Musto clothing. Technically engineered and real-world testing by elite sailors, ensures all Musto garments and footwear are warranted to the original owner against defects in materials and workmanship.
How long does your warranty last?
Should any purchased product fail due to a manufacturing defect within two years of the purchase date, we will provide a replacement or advise on repairs, at our discretion. If you believe your Musto item has a problem, please submit a warranty claim and our Customer Care team will be happy to offer advice. Our team assesses each issue on an individual basis, taking into account the age of the item and the amount of care and usage it has had.
What is covered by your warranty?
Our warranty covers manufacturing defects within two years of the purchase date. Below are some examples of manufacturing defects we can help with:
- Zipper failure
- Signs of workmanships faults: For example, stitching coming apart, fastenings detaching, buttons falling off.
- Leaky waterproof garments or DWR failure: If reproofing the item does not fix the leaking issue or you spot a localised leaking issue (through a shoulder seam, for example), this may be covered under warranty.
What is not covered by your warranty?
While we want to help as much as we can, in some instances we are unable to cover an item under warranty. Some examples of what is not covered by our warranty are:
- Damage caused by accident or wear and tear: for example rips, scuffs, marks or stains.
- Issues that can occur due to lack of product care, negligence, or the product reaching the end of its expected lifetime: For example old jackets delaminating, hardening or cracking boots
- Issues that are the direct result of independent alteration: For example, if you get your jacket embroidered and this results in the altered area no longer being waterproof, we are not able to cover this.
- Pockets of waterproof jackets filling up with water: On most occasions, if your jacket pockets are filling up with water but the rest of the jacket fabric remains waterproof, this may be due to water entering the jacket while the pocket is open or putting wet hands inside the pocket.
- Damage caused by incorrect use of item. For example, if your Musto dry-bag leaks due to being completely submerged under water or the roll-top is not correctly fastened.
- Second hand items: Unfortunately we are not able to cover second hand items under warranty, as we would be unable to establish the item’s original purchase place & date, nor its level of use or care.
If you are unsure if your product can be covered, please submit a warranty claim and our Customer Care team will be happy to offer advice. Our team assesses each issue on an individual basis, taking into account the age of the item, and the amount of care and usage it has had.
Does my Gore-tex item come with a lifetime guarantee?
All GORE-TEX items sold by Musto are covered by Musto’s 2 year warranty. This covers any signs of manufacturing defects, and our Customer Care team at Musto will be happy to help you with this.
If your GORE-TEX item is outside of Musto’s 2 year warranty, it might still be covered by GORE-TEX’s own “Guaranteed to Keep You Dry” Limited Lifetime warranty. This warranty covers faults with the GORE-TEX membrane itself, such as leaking issues.
In some cases, if it feels like your GORE-TEX gear is leaking, it may simply mean it is time to re-proof the garments DWR treatment. For more info on how to do this, please see the “How do I care for my Musto clothing?” section.
If you have reproofed your gear and find that it is still leaking through the fabric, it may need to be assessed by GORE-TEX. To contact GORE-TEX about this, please visit their website here. They will be able to advise you on the next steps and any other relevant information regarding your leaking GORE-TEX product.
