The ocean. The countryside. These are the environments that Musto is built upon, the arenas where our sportspeople compete and where our apparel is engineered. Whilst going about our business, we aim to do all we can to reduce the negative impact that our business has on the environment.
Musto is committed to reducing its environmental impact by taking a long-term, science-driven approach.
We prioritise:
+ Repairability
+ Certified recycled synthetics
+ Bluesign® materials
+ Organic cotton
+ PFC-free water repellency
+ Solution-dyed fabrics
MUSTO PROMISE
We promise to never compromise on quality and always strive to implement a circular mindset to our products, applying materials with improved environmental profiles and using them to make products that stand the test of time. Finally we promise to always prioritise actions that protect and conserve the ocean and the countryside.
WHY HAS MUSTO IMPLEMENTED A SUSTAINABILITY STRATEGY?
Musto has worked with sustainable practices in their supply chain and design and development areas for many years. Our focus on sustainability has increased over the last few years and is now top of our agenda. We therefore saw a need to structure our efforts and prioritise even more in what we are going after to ensure we are driving improvements and real impacts in our efforts. A sustainability strategy is supporting us to align both internally and externally, with our partners, on which areas we are focusing on as a brand.
DOES MUSTO CURRENTLY MANUFACTURE ANY PRODUCTS WITH SUSTAINABLE CREDENTIALS?
Yes, we are applying recycled materials and labelling products containing a minimum of 50% recycled content. We are also using organic cotton, PFC free DWR and have ®bluesign approved products.
DOES MUSTO HAVE A SUSTAINABILITY STRATEGY FOR THE NEXT 5-10 YEARS?
We have short and mid-term targets of where we want to be in the coming years. For example, we set a target to phase out PFC DWR treatments and ensure a minimum of 50% of our synthetic fabrics are recycled versions by 2025. We are also taking action on Climate Change and are in a process of developing an interim target for GHG emission reductions by 2030.
ARE ANY SINGLE-USE PLASTICS USED IN PACKAGING?
We are packing all our products in our manufacturing process in recycled plastic bags. The packaging is protecting the product during transportation, which can be quite harsh with large variations in both temperature and humidity. In order to reduce the amount of plastic we are optimising the way our garments are folded and use as thin a plastic bag as possible. To reduce the plastic environmental footprint, we have replaced all virgin plastic bags with recycled versions.
